The Messaging Industry Association Elects New Slate of Officers at Annual Meeting

MIAMI, Florida (March 28, 2006) - The Messaging Industry Association (TMIA) convened in Miami last month for its Annual Meeting and Exhibition. This year's attendance exceeded all past meetings, with 170 attendees from 56 companies including 51 attendees from 23 service provider companies.

Group elects board of officers
TMIA members elected the 2006 board of directors during the four-day event. Valerie Beliak of TELUS and Don Katz of ServiceSPAN will continue to serve as co-chairs of the board. The other elected board members include: JB Colletta, Treasurer (Glenayre); Christine Johnson, Secretary (Verizon); John Haspil, Director (AT&T); Jackie Jackson, Director (Cingular); and Mark Wagner, Director (Bell Canada, Mobility). John Haspil represents the only addition to the board compared to the 2005 board.

"The membership recognized the achievements of the board over the last year by re-electing all officers from 2005 who stood for re-election," said Tom Harper, TMIA's Executive Director. "I look forward to another productive year with this group, and welcome John Haspil back to the board."

Varied and full agenda - Messaging becomes glue in converged communications
The agenda for the four day conference included panel discussions, individual speakers, and time to visit the exhibition area, as well as the standard business of committee reports and election of the new board members. A common theme emerged during the event: the many forms of messaging serve as the glue in a converged communications world.

An exhibition area allowed vendor companies to present their service offerings to the 23 service provider companies. Attendees had ample opportunity over two days to visit each of the booths to see the latest offerings of the vendor companies present. Many companies offered demonstrations of their services, which led to some fairly crowded booth areas.
