Tucson, AZ (March 7, 2007) - The Messaging Industry Association (TMIA) convened in Tucson last week for its Annual Conference and Exhibition. This year's robust attendance included 147 attendees from 54 companies.
Group elects board of officers
TMIA members elected the 2007 board of directors. Jackie Jackson, of AT&T (wireless division) joins Don Katz of ServiceSPAN as co-chairs of TMIA. They are joined by: Mary Valentino, Treasurer (uReach); Christine Johnson, Secretary (Verizon); John Haspil, Director (AT&T); Matthew Leppanen, Director (Bell Canada); and Meena Sahni, Director (TELUS Mobility). Mary Valentino, Matthew Leppanen and Meena Sahni are all new to the TMIA board.
"The association bid a grateful farewell to Valerie Beliak (TELUS), Mark Wagner (Bell Canada), and JB Colletta (IP Unity Glenyre) who have had long and productive runs as elected officers," said Tom Harper, TMIA's Executive Director. "They leave big shoes to fill, and the membership has elected a highly-talented group to lead the association into the future."
The future of messaging - wireless/wireline convergence and abundant technologies
As the Association looks towards the remainder of the 21st-century's first decade, it faces a landscape of converging services and technologies, including voice, text, and video messaging - all co-existing on an infrastructure rapidly moving into the IP age. In this shifting and often treacherous business landscape, TMIA offers its members a safe forum in which to share information, conduct research, network, and work towards a unified -- yet multi-faceted -- messaging industry.
